_a little more than 15 years ago, i had a subscription to GamePro. i one day got an issue with some of the worst quality screenshots i’d ever seen. these were for a game called “Mega Man X” for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. details were scarce and questions were many. would Mega Man successfully make the jump to 16 bits? what does the X stand for? would the game look better in motion? is that blue-ish blurry blob Mega Man? come release, all of those questions were answered, and the answer to all of them was a resounding “Yes.” even “what does the X stand for?” a little more than an hour ago, i beat Mega Man X6, thus finishing the series found in the Mega Man X Collection.

_my family often goes out of town for Thanksgiving, up to Visalia, CA, and visit my aunt, uncle and cousins. they’re a vietnamese family, but they cook a traditional Thanksgiving meal. with rice. that’s the only asia-fication that goes on for the meal. on one of these trips, i helped my cousin clean out his room. we came across some games his dad had bought for him at a local pawn shop, and he didn’t really want them and asked if i wanted any. most i didn’t want at all, but one game i was semi-interested in. that game was “Rygar: The Legendary Adventure” for the Playstation 2 game console.
_Golden Axe was released in the arcades in 1989, and had a Mega Drive/Genesis release later in that year. i didn’t have a Genesis in 1989. i didn’t get mine until at least 1992, because i got it with a copy of David Robinson’s Supreme Court, which has a 1992 copywrite on the back of the box. i keep that game based on the sole fact that it was the first Genesis game i ever owned. but i got a copy of Golden Axe soon after getting my Genesis. and up until a week ago, i had never beaten it.
Contrary to popular belief, I am indeed alive! I just haven’t been posting because I am uninteresting as usual. I actually started like 3 posts but they all turned out to be similar to excrement. Hmm!
Anyways, during this span of inactivity, I have beaten 3 games. Extremely productive of me on the gamepreyan front, but that unfortunately came at the expense of academia or whatever the heck they call it. Oh well!
So the games I beat were Saya no Uta, Persona 4, and Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! 2. I am currently in a console game slump (thanks, P4!) so I’m just playing random DS things now, hoping that I can beat SOMETHING. This will be a pseudo final impressions + sorta now playing report thingamajig. The bandwagon, I jumped on it!
Stuff I’ll talk about: Saya no Uta, Persona 4, Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! 2, Princess Debut. Ctrl+F, I choose you!
Year 2009 has started and already 1 month and half have passed. At the beginning of the year, my 360’s disc tray unfortunately didn’t work anymore. It was jammed when pressing the eject button, and when it actually worked, the 360 wouldn’t detect any disc put in at all. So the console I was addicted to was sent to repair. It was time to dust off the PS2. Woah, I barely touched my PS2 since I got my 360 last year. The only game I seriously played was Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 and Persona 3 FES.
So what have I been doing in my game progression this year? Let’s see! Here’s the summary first, and then come the details after.
The games I’ve played are:
- Castle of Shikigami 2 (PS2)
- Double Dragon (NES)
- Double Dragon II: The Revenge (NES)
- Double Dragon III: The Sacred Stones (NES)
- Unlimited SaGa (PS2)
- Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World (PS2)
- Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers (NES)
- Monster in My Pocket (NES)
- Contra III: The Alien Wars (SNES)
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (SNES)
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time (SNES)
- Final Fantasy X (PS2)
- Initial D: Special Stage (PS2)
- Disaster: Day of Crisis (Wii)
- Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Cross Generation of Heroes (Wii)
- No More Heroes (Wii)
Note: All the games in bold are the ones I’ve beaten/completed during the playlog only, so if they were already previously beaten/completed in the past, they’re not counted in my playlog 01.
And now for the detailed report…
_i just played R·Type Dimensions. i played R·Type on Classic mode for about 6 hours. without dying, the game is beatable in about 20 minutes. i got to the checkpoint of the 7th stage. i spent 4 hours on stages 5-through-half-of-7. i spent a full hour on the checkpoint halfway through stage 7 without ever reaching the boss. it was the hardest thing i’ve ever played. there’s a stage 8.
Wow, it feels like I haven’t posted in forever…Maybe it’s because a lot of people posted last week, but whatever?!
Anyways, time for an extremely TRENDY, show off-y post! This is the rig post that everyone and their goats did a while back. Let me on that bandwagon already! I took pictures of both (the less fugly part of) my room and “my”…rec room. Kind of picture intensive, but really, I’m just lying!
